During the season when viruses are particularly worrisome, there are concerns on not only about coughing and sneezing but also about the spread of viruses through contact. As a result of searching for safe, secure, and comfortable processing technology that suppresses virus activity in the fiber materials around us, including public spaces, we developed a photocatalytic material that utilizes light.
In developing VIRUS SHIELD®, it was difficult to fix photocatalysts on the fiber while maintaining its effectiveness, but after a year and a half of trial and error, we finally established the processing technology.
Features of VIRUS SHIELD ®
1. Effective even in large spaces with weak light
In general, photocatalyst processing uses titanium oxide. Since titanium oxide is effective only in the ultraviolet region, titanium oxide is more effective under bright light such as sunlight but is less effective in dark areas. On the other hand, VIRUS SHIELD® uses a special tungsten oxide that is expected to be effective in a wide range of areas, including visible light. Therefore, the anti-virus effect can be achieved by sunlight and by weak indoor light such as fluorescent lights and LEDs.

2. Superior antiviral properties
「"VIRUS SHIELD®" is hybridized with a special adsorbent and is confirmed to be 99% effective in reducing the infectivity of influenza viruses in 6 hours based on contact tests. Viruses that come into contact with "VIRUS SHIELD®" become less infectious. The washing durability can be adjusted depending on the application.
